TS Galaxy FC fan warns of poaching threat from big three
TS Galaxy FC’s young stars are firing on all cylinders this season, but one fan fears the club’s promising crop could be snapped up by South Africa’s biggest teams.
Nelson ‘Bigman’ Thwaya, a die-hard supporter, told KickOff that the possibility of losing Galaxy’s newly unearthed gems to Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates keeps him up at night. The side’s five-star performance in the Mpumalanga province’s Premier’s Cup on Sunday has put them on the map, but Thwaya worries the ‘big three’ will come calling.
“Galaxy is firing from all angles this season,” Thwaya said. “This TS Galaxy team makes us proud, it gives us hope. You can’t start a cattle farm without cows. You need to plan if you are a club; the new players showed us their quality on the weekend where they played for the team.”
Bernard Parker’s young revolution impresses fans
Thwaya praised head coach Bernard Parker for his bold approach to blooding young talent. At 35, Parker is the youngest coach in the Betway Premiership, and he has already handed debuts to several teenagers who, according to Thwaya, are even better than midfielder Keagan Dolly Mahlambi.
“Our coach Bernard Parker is the youngest coach in this league, coaching a young, energetic team,” Thwaya said. “Parker is cooking something here. I like the fact that he isn’t scared to introduce younger players.”
The side’s recent form in the Premier’s Cup - where they dominated - has convinced Thwaya that Galaxy can push for a top-four finish this term. He also believes the return to home games at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium will give the team an extra boost.
Poaching risk looms over Galaxy’s bright future
Thwaya’s biggest concern is the club’s ability to retain its best players. He pointed to the ‘big three’ - Chiefs, Sundowns and Pirates - as serial poachers who regularly raid smaller clubs for emerging talent.
“My only worry is these big three teams like Kaizer Chiefs, Sundowns, and Pirates,” he said. “They are always looking to buy players from us. That’s the only thing that might disrupt our plans. We cook, only for others to come to dish up and eat.”
Despite the threat, Thwaya remains optimistic. He expects Galaxy to finish in the top four and lift at least one domestic cup this season. The fan also vowed that the team will not lose at home in KwaNdebele, where Galaxy will play several fixtures.
What comes next for TS Galaxy FC?
Galaxy’s next steps hinge on two fronts: keeping their squad intact and maintaining their momentum in the Betway Premiership. With Parker at the helm and a crop of exciting youngsters ready to shine, the club has a real chance to upset the established order.
The side’s next league outing will be crucial, especially after their cup heroics. If Galaxy can string together consistent results, they could force their way into the title race - or at least secure a continental spot.
For now, Thwaya and the Galaxy faithful will enjoy the ride, while keeping one eye on the transfer window - and the inevitable calls from the big three.
