TS Galaxy are closing in on appointing Admir Adzem as their new head coach. The 53-year-old Bosnian is expected to finalise an agreement with the club soon, bringing a UEFA Pro-licensed coach to stabilise the technical team.
The Rockets have been searching for a permanent successor since parting ways with Bernard Parker. Interim coach Esau Mtsweni, who oversaw the recent 3-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates, is set to return to his role with the club’s DStv Diski Challenge side. Chairman Tim Sukazi had indicated the club was seeking a coach with a UEFA Pro license, a profile Adzem fits.
His appointment would mark a return to a Bosnian coach for the club and is seen as a move to improve results. TS Galaxy currently sit 13th in the Premier Soccer League with just six points from eight matches, having recorded only one win and three draws. Their recent form shows three consecutive losses, including that heavy defeat to Orlando Pirates on 13 October where goals from Boitumelo Lawrence Radiopane, Tshepang Moremi and Simphiwe Masilela sealed the result. This followed earlier 1-0 losses to Chippa United on 20 September and Kruger United on 13 September.
Immediate challenges
The team has scored seven goals while conceding twelve this season, leaving them with a negative goal difference of five. Top scorer V. Letsoalo has four of those goals. The immediate task for the new coach will be to halt the slide, with the next fixture a trip to face 11th-placed Polokwane City on 31 October. The club finds itself seventeen points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
The club awaits the finalisation of the agreement with Adzem before his official appointment and a return to coaching duties. The move is aimed at providing the leadership needed to climb away from the lower reaches of the standings.
